North Carolina Azalea Festival

The North Carolina Azalea Festival in Wilmington was founded in 1948 and features more than 50 events celebrating local arts and culture including a parade, concerts and art shows, a two-day street fair, home and garden tours, special exhibits, and more.

Latin Dance Social

Earth Day Festival

April 22, 2017, 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Hugh MacRae Park, 314 Pine Grove Drive, Wilmington, NC 28409

Cost: FREE!

The annual Earth Day Festival at Hugh MacRae Park in Wilmington, NC, features a theme of “Building a Better World” and includes more than 45 environmental exhibits; drinks provided by Waterline Brewing Company, Noni Bacca, and Panacea Brewing Company; and food from StevieMack’s International Food Co., the UNCW Seahawk Food Wagon, and Smart Smoothies. The event also includes live music with OMNI Percussion Ensemble (noon), Folkstar (2:15pm), and the Casserole (4pm), plus a Kids’ Eco Zone. Mr. Mark will provide music for kids and lead the Nature Brigade Parade (1:45pm), where kids will show off costumes made from upcycled materials.

Race for the Planet 5K

NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher, 900 Loggerhead Road, Kure Beach, NC 28449

Cost: $30.00 to $40.00

The 9th Annual Race for the Planet 5K celebrates Earth Day and begins and ends at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher in Kure Beach. The flat, mostly asphalt course offers excellent views of the ocean, maritime forest and the Fort Fisher Civil War site. Runners and walkers receive free admission to the Aquarium on race day, and organic T-shirts for the first 300 registered.

Food Truck Rodeo and Grand Opening

The Food Truck Rodeo at Ogden Park in Wilmington features more than eight food trucks plus the Grand Opening of the new Ogden Skate Park. Healthy Kids Day
