Thursday, February 4, 10 am: Messy Hands Toddler Art

Release the artist in your child (ages 2-4) at the New Hanover County Mail Library to participate in the variety of artistic media that will be available for their use. Preregister at the library’s online calendar (www.nhclibrary.org). There should be a grown-up with each child, and no one should wear clothing that needs to stay clean. Enjoy the memories behind the next piece of artwork on the fridge!

Thursday-Saturday, February 4-6, 7:30 pm: 36th Annual North Carolina Jazz Festival

The Hilton Riverside in downtown Wilmington hosts the 36th Annual North Carolina Jazz Festival for three nights. Kick back and enjoy the sounds of Gypsy Jazz, Big Band Tribute, Piano Bebop, a Tribute to Ladies of Jazz, and Traditional Jazz Jams.

Monday-Wednesday, February 8-10: Oscar Nominated Shorts

The best short films of 2015 will be showcased at Thalian Hall in downtown Wilmington, including animated (Monday, February 8, 7 pm and Wednesday, February 10, 4 pm), documentary (Tuesday, February 9, 4 pm and 7 pm), and live action shorts (Wednesday, February 10, 7 pm). Twenty different films will be shown throughout the three days.

Friday, February 19, 6 pm: Fourth Annual Pizza Putt

An 18-hole miniature golf course awaits the end of your work day at the Children’s Museum of Wilmington. Unwind by sampling a variety of pizza, beer, and wine from local restaurants and bars, along with music, a business card raffle, mini-silent auction, longest putt and longest cornhole toss competitions, a photobooth, and party favors.

Friday-Sunday, February 19-21: Seaglass Salvage Market

Saturday, February 20, 10 am: Basic Tax Prep Workshop

It’s not the most wonderful time of the year, but it is good to know how to face it properly. The Northeast Library in Wilmington will host the Basic Tax Prep Workshop, teaching the elementary steps of filing individual tax returns. Kamila Blessing of H & R Block will be there to lead the way, leaving time for your questions as well.

Tuesday, February 23, 7:30 pm: Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana

One of the nation’s premier flamenco and Spanish dance companies comes to the Odell Williamson Auditorium at Brunswick Community College in Bolivia, NC as part of en east coast tour. The performing arts of southern Spain have many stylistic differences, highlighted in the Poema de Andalucía performance.
