October is also Breast Cancer Awareness month. The American Cancer Society estimates that 246,660 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2016. Here are a few ideas for enjoying the season and supporting the cause during October:

The 8th Annual Run for the Ta-Tas is a Chaser 5K Race with a one-mile walk. The women start first with a two-and-a-half-minute head start over the men. The first participant to cross the finish line, male or female, wins a cash prize. The fast and flat paved course takes runners around Mayfaire Town Center. Proceeds benefit The Pink Ribbon Project, The Pretty in Pink Foundation, and Love is Bald. Registration is required.

Proceeds benefit the NHRMC Foundation’s Pink Ribbon Project, which helps local, uninsured women obtain free mammograms and diagnostic screenings for the early detection of breast cancer.
