Window Treatment Trends 2014
The home decor question, What is the latest trend in color and fashion for window coverings in 2014?
According to Pantone the color of the year is Radiant Orchid. It is described as “captivating, magical, enigmatic purple.”
Leatrice Eisman of the Pantone Color Institue says about this color, “an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple, and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence, emanates great joy, love, and health.” Designers can incorporate this bold color into home decor instantly with accessories such as drapes, pillows, and art.
Pantone color trends for Spring of 2014 offer a bold red, Cayenne, a color that adds freshness to any room, Dazzling Blue and a popular neutral gray, Paloma. The color grey continues to be “the neutral” choice in home fashion design.
Hunter Douglas designers comment, “the color grey, or gray, is a major player in the design field.” Hunter Douglas offers different variations of grey in many of their window treatment products, with colors such as Silver Mist, White Stone, Cement, and Platinum. For a modern look, use a shade of grey on walls, paired with black and white furniture, then add splashes of red in the window treatment and other accessories.
This is the year to “celebrate the simple” with minimalist window coverings being the trend in window fashion for 2014.
Gromment style drapes are simple yet dramatic in colors such as Cocoa and Smoke.
Patti Wantanabe of The Work Room notes that,”longer, looser pleats (5 to 6 inches) are current, popular, less formal than shorter longer pleats.”
Another trend from “Style at Home” suggests “fun and exotic patterns for draperies in zebra stripes, giraffe spots, and geometric patterns for a modern twist.”
