The year 2015 is here and with it new and innovative ideas for home interior design. According to some home designers, window treatments are one of the easiest and affordable ways to update or create a new home environment. This is because window treatments can change the mood and restyle a room instantly depending on the type and color of window treatment chosen. What are some popular color and window treatment ideas for 2015? Let the experts be your guide!

A team of designers from all over the world meet each year to research and predict what will be the most popular colors for the new year. For the year 2015, the CMG (Color Marketing Group) chose colors that are down to earth and easy to live with. “Mother Earth once again dominates the color trend with colors such as Orange Ballard, a rusty red named Remaining Embers and a blue green called Pleasant Stream.”

Known as a global color authority, Pantone has named the color Marsala as the color of 2015. According to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone Color Institute, this rich red brown color Marsala “enriches our mind, body, and soul. Exuding confidence and stability. Marsala is subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to it’s embracing warmth. This color translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home fashions and interiors.” Spring 2015 Pantone focuses on “cooler softer colors, pale pastels and nature like neutrals” such as Scuba Blue, Toasted Almond, and Glacier Gray.

Behr color trend reports 4 different color palettes. One is entitled Social Brights with colors such as Graphic Grape, Plastic Lime and Sonic Blue. The report said these are “paint colors which can be Incorporated into home furnishings and accessories such as rugs, pillows and window treatments.”

According to window treatment expert Deb Barrett, quoted in a Hadley Court article by Kim Darden, “window treatments are pretty again. We are seeing romantic stylized looks, a movement to floral patterns, a more delicate and airy look. Layering is playing an important role in the Modern Romantic movement. For example, Sheers and drapes in the kitchen? Not typical, but today you can think of layering on windows you wouldn’t have before,” Deb pointed out.
